FUNDRAISE FOR CRY

We encourage anyone to fundraise for CRY. There are hundreds of A-Z ideas on how to fundraise from Absailing to Zebra Racing or holding an Auction of Promises to Yacht Racing... anything goes!

CRY SPONSORED WALK

The CRY WALK makes up for a substantial chunk in the charity's income and goes directly to the projects that CRY supports. The walk is divided into 4 distances to cater for all ages and abilities. The CRY WALK has been an annual event (with the exception of 2010). The CRY Walk 2011 was held on the 21st May, with brand new routes running from Itchen Valley Country Park to Winchester - the longer distance was 26 miles - the 'WALKATHON'! We raised £6,000! For more information about the next CRY Walk and how to take part, visit our CRY WALK page for the latest updates.

If you would like to organise your own sponsored walk, please do not hesitate to CONTACT US for helpful tips.

Here is a group of CRY supporters from Gloucestershire who raised £710 for CRY by organising their own sponsored walk!

CRY AUCTIONS

CRY JERSEY hold a fundraising auction every year where all proceeds go to CRY. They receive donated items ranging from paintings to holidays from generous benefactors. It has proven very popular and the last auction raised £4.700 helping children in Russia.

Due to the phenomenal success of the CRY Jersey Auctions, we here at CRY Head office decided to follow suit and hold an auction on mainland UK. Held in October 2010 in Hedge End, Southampton, the first CRY Auction went extremely well. With tips from Jersey, the evening was a great success, all proceeds went directly to Home of Hope children's home in Albania. We raised a total £5,005! It was a really fun evening with a great variety of Lots! Thank you to Rob Medway, our auctioneer; Nia Mason for hosting the evening and to all those who kindly donated the Lots and those who came and spent lots of money bidding for them!

SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISING TIPS

Fundraising doesn't have to be 'way-out-there' or limited to certain people and abilities! There are fundraising ideas for everyone, here are a few fundraising tips that have been successful with CRY supporters over the years...

  • Host a coffee and cake morning in your local community or hobby group and take the opportunity to share the work of CRY while enjoying a slice of grandma's home-made carrot cake!
  • Clothes party - one for the ladies! A great way to get to know your neighbours by getting them to drop off their unwanted 'new' clothes or nearly new items a few days beforehand; make your home look like a vintage boutique and get your guests to donate what they feel the clothes they want are worth instead of pricing the clothes up yourself... you'll always be guaranteed to raise more money this way!
  • Choose something specific to fundraise for and link it in with a fundraising idea... for example, fundraising for tuk-tuks for pregnant women in Cambodia (a popular way of transport in Cambodia, facilitating the journey of pregnant women coming from remote parts to the CRY WAITING HOUSES)... link this in with a sponsored bike ride maybe!
