MEET FIDARIJE...

Fidarije is a cute 10 year girl who comes from a very poor Roma gypsy family. She was placed in one of the children’s homes supported by CRY earlier this year. Fiderije was diagnosed with organic heart problems from birth; she has had respiratory problems and suffers from anxiety. She had to undergo a difficult heart valve operation in January.
Fiderije lived with her mother, siblings and grandfather in a basic cabin in a very poor neighbourhood. For a very long time, her grandfather would use her and her siblings to beg for money on the streets even after her operation. She was placed in the children’s home because she needed ongoing care and a special diet which her family couldn’t provide. This also meant she was safe from having to beg on the streets any longer. Even though she’s fairly new to the children’s home, she has adapted well and is very happy. She is also making a good recovery.
