STAMPS & COLLECTABLES

CRY welcomes all gifts of used postage stamps and other collectible items and sells them for the benefit of needy children. Stamps are sold through Ebay.

Because of the popularity of stamps, we actually have a shortage of stamps to sell at present and so would really welcome your support in collecting stamps for CRY! Thank you.

NEW CRY STAMP COLLECTION BOX

We have designed a CRY Stamp Collection Box to make it easier for you to collect used stamps for CRY. You can place this box anywhere you feel will attract people to start collecting and donate stamps for CRY. You must be prepared to service the emptying of the boxes and sending the stamps to CRY. Please contact Larry on 02381 780408 to request a box.

DONATING STAMPS

PLEASE DO!

We welcome all stamps *, on or off paper as long as the stamp is not damaged. If possible, stamps on paper should have no more than 5mm of single thickness border around them. Less than this is acceptable but please do not trim them so close that the perforations are damaged. Please avoid double thickness paper (e.g. front and back faces of the envelope). Damaged stamps are worthless. Soaking stamps off their backing can obviously save on your postage costs. Please do not mix off-paper stamps with those still on their backing.
It would really help us if you could pre-sort donated stamps into JUST 2 basic types:

(a) * GREAT BRITAIN (incl. regional and offshore islands e.g. Jersey, IOM, etc)
(b) * FOREIGN (non GB) - if your donations are from just one foreign country, please mark the envelope accordingly.

PLEASE DON'T!

PLEASE DON'T SEND US COMPLETE ENVELOPES or excessive paper! A few recent donations were stamps on complete envelopes! Although well intentioned, unless these are old, airmail or foreign stamped envelopes, this considerably lowers the value of the donation (or makes the donation worthless) because we sell by weight.
Ensure that adequate postage is applied to your parcel (the Post Office charge £1 plus the underpaid dues) otherwise we have to refuse the delivery.

Or hand them in to any of our charity shops. We regret we are unable to collect donations or refund postage costs. If you have any further queries about stamps, please CONTACT US

A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE KINDLY DONATED STAMPS SO FAR - CLICK HERE for a list of companies/individuals who have made stamp donations already.

COLLECTABLES

We welcome all types of collectables like: phone cards, tea packet cards, old coins, banknotes, cigarette cards, medals, various memorabilia, sports programmes, famous autographed items, records, militaria, postcards (used or unused), Pelham puppets, old toys, tinplate model trains, old watercolour and oil paintings, special edition mugs/ plates, old posters, prints and engravings, ephemera, old teddy bears and anything else considered collectable.

HOW MUCH CAN YOU HELP US TO RAISE THROUGH STAMPS?
Stamps are actually a great way to fundraise. We receive stamps from all sorts of sources and sell them in mixed packs on Ebay. They are extremely popular surprisingly enough. To give you an idea of the average money raised made from the sales of stamps in 2011/12...

A 400g pack of foreign stamps makes an average of £15

A 500g pack of GB stamps makes between £16 - £28
