COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE & UPLIFT CENTRE, QHOLAQUHOE

Current project

In 2008, CRY was able to access a grant which has enabled the Rebobthe Church to erect a permanent building to house their activities, relating to job creation and health care.

Qholaquoe is the main village in Makhoekhweng Province, North East Lesotho, with a population of some 12,000 extremely poor Basotho people. Lesotho is listed as the world’s poorest nation and is currently suffering a prolonged drought. Unemployment is 70%, has a 38% HIV/AIDS infection rate, and medical provision and social services are minimal. Educational opportunities are limited, and literacy levels are low, with little skills training such as farming or business generally. All these issues are being addressed in this centre.

There have been numerous delay in the construction of the centre since 2008, however in 2010 CRY was informed that the building work was finally progressing well and was completed in the early part of 2011. Therefore further funding is now sent monthly to support the running of the centre.
