EDUCATION & SKILLS TRAINING CENTRE, MANDALAY REGION

Last supported in 2009

In 2009, CRY was able to access a grant to partner the Burma Children’s Fund as they seek to support children and young people who are lacking a basic education and skills for life training.

Although state schools in Mandalay cater for all children up to age 15 and some to age 18, there is no skills training to improve employment opportunities, very little access to IT and no English language teaching. Many young people are discriminated against on the basis of ethnicity, religion, simply being female or from an orphaned background. The education and skills centres provide equally for all young people, specifically addressing the lack of education and skills training. These are provided in an atmosphere of love and acceptance, providing hope and equipping these young people for a better future.
