Type of Support Empower Girls

Egypt’s recent population growth has placed a large strain on the country’s education system. The total number of children enrolled in both Primary and Secondary Schools has increased significantly in the last 15 years. This has resulted in overcrowded classrooms and increased pupil-to-teacher ratios. Consequently, parents are forced to spend more of their income on private tutoring however this is not an option for low-income families. 30% of schoolchildren are estimated to lack basic reading and writing skills and the majority of these affected children live in rural areas and have reduced access to education. CRY support three Education Clubs across Egypt serving a total of 280 children on a regular basis. Two of these clubs are situated in rural regions and most of the children attending these clubs have very little access to education. The third club runs in a larger city and provides high-quality tutoring classes to children from low-income families. The aim of these Education Clubs is to provide all children with an excellent education regardless of their socioeconomic background. The three clubs provide maths, science, history, geography, English, and Arabic classes to children aged between 7-14 years of age on a weekly basis. In addition to these classes the children also participate in sustainability tasks, dance classes, and sports activities. All three clubs also provide support to children who have suffered from abuse or violence.

CRY’s heart is to build a better future for children across Egypt and help them to reach their full potential. Please join us in our mission and give life today.
