A Cry for Peace: Critical appeal

Far too many children have become accustomed to the sounds of bombs and the tragic loss caused by conflicts. All children, who are made in the image of God, deserve to play, love, and learn without the burdens imposed by adult conflicts.

According to the United Nations, 2024 could potentially emerge as one of the most challenging years in recent history for children, particularly those impacted by conflict zones. We urgently appeal for donations to help our project partners who are dedicated to aiding children in three specific conflict-sensitive zones around the globe:

• Gaza/West Bank - In recent months, CRY has been supporting the charitable activities of the Shepherd Society in the West Bank and Gaza. The organisation extends aid to local families and their children who are facing dire circumstances, including the urgent need for aid, employment opportunities, sustenance, fuel, medical attention, pastoral care, and beyond. Unfortunately, as violence persists, the demand for aid only intensifies. The funds raised through this appeal will be directed towards assisting impoverished families and children in the West Bank, and when permitted, in Gaza.

• Ukraine: Lighthouse School, situated in the heart of Kyiv, has been dedicated to educating internally displaced children from Eastern Ukraine for several years. Despite the relentless conflict, the school remains steadfast in its mission. Sustaining educational continuity amid the turmoil is paramount for assisting these children in coping with the trauma of war. In certain instances, children have had to attend classes in war bunkers due to the looming threat of bombings. Your generous donation will support the school in its ongoing efforts to educate these children and provide essential aid.

• Myanmar: Our efforts are focused on supporting six food banks there that provide crucial assistance to families residing in conflict-affected areas. The crisis in Myanmar continues to escalate, leaving displaced children and their families uncertain about the possibility of returning home in the foreseeable future. Your donation will serve as a lifeline for hundreds of individuals, providing them with essential sustenance during these challenging times.
