Beyond Relief: Solidarity.

In a world shaken by violence, polarisation, hatred, natural disasters, and conflict — both close to home and across the globe — it is natural to ask: what can we possibly offer in response?
At CRY, we work tirelessly to be in a position to bring relief and humanitarian support to the world’s most vulnerable children.
We feel a deep mandate to help those in the nations most at risk. This year, our reach extends to children in over 35 nations, including beneficiaries in or from—eight of the ten countries on the IRC’s 2025 Humanitarian Watchlist, as well as an additional four from the extended list.
Yet, when set against the scale of suffering, our efforts can feel like just a drop in the ocean.
However— almost every week, when we speak with partners on the ground or read their reports, we hear the same message echoed back to us. Yes, the support we provide makes a tangible difference — it is often life-changing and vital for the children who receive it. But what seems to carry the furthest is not just the practical help itself, but the way it is experienced: as an act of profound solidarity.
Whether it’s a backpack for a Sudanese refugee child in Egypt, a doll for a little girl in Gaza, a warm breakfast for a pupil in Haiti, or a Christmas gift for Quechua children in the Andes — each of these actions carries a deeper meaning.
They are not just items given; they are statements of love and care, messages that say: we see you, you matter — not only to us, but even more so to your Creator, God.
In a world where darkness often feels overwhelming — for nations and for people — we invite you to make a difference. Not necessarily in the dramatic ways we see in films or the extraordinary callings of a few, but in the quiet places, away from the spotlight. In humility.
By choosing kindness. By offering simple acts of solidarity and love, wherever you are. And as you do, trust that these actions — however small they may seem — create a ripple effect that reaches far beyond what you can see or imagine.
“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” — Hebrews 13:16
