Lord, teach us to pray.

We recently launched our 10-year vision, aiming to go Far Beyond what we can dream or imagine (Ephesians 3:20)—as we continue our fight against child poverty. This vision is built on three keywords: Increase, Pray, and Shape.

Beyond strategies, plans, and initiatives, the most vital element in fulfilling our mission and seeing this vision come to life is prayer. It has to be the heartbeat of all we do. To that end we have started and are developing different resources and events to engage further in prayer.

  • We have developed new collaborations with the 24/7 Prayer movement and 24/7 Prayer Peru. A few weeks ago, we hosted an online webinar for all our partners across the world. Our friends from the 24/7 prayer movement delivered the content, which was around how to help children engage in prayer in creative ways - by setting up creative prayer spaces. A few weeks later, a few of our partners have already tried this concept. For example in Tanzania, our partners have started seeing children engaging in these spaces every Saturday and are about to launch the first prayer space for children in Masailand. Furthermore, as a network, along with our partners, we aim to participate in the Global Week of Prayer, led by 24-7 Prayer, which seeks to have prayer spaces active in every nation on earth between 1st-7th September 2025.

  • We have created a dedicated prayer page/space on our website, which includes creative prayers and meditations focused on what God is doing throughout the world. It also highlights how we can best pray for justice, peace, and restoration, among other important themes. This section will be regularly updated as we encourage our network to check it out and join us in prayer.

  • Recently, we launched our new children's newsletter, Virtual World Tour with Pepi Parrot. The aim is to raise awareness and educate children in the West about the lives of other children around the world in a fun and engaging way. As part of the newsletter, we encourage and guide children to pray for specific nations, children beyond their borders, and humanitarian projects.

  • As we continue to move forward in our 10-year vision we will develop other ways for our network to join us in praying for our world. Watch this space!

As our friend Phil Togwell from the 24/7 Prayer movement highlighted in his webinar, the disciples could have asked Jesus many things—yet they simply said, "Lord, teach us to pray" (Luke 11). This is the cry of our hearts as well. Beyond provision, strategies, and charitable resources, our deepest request is for God to teach us to pray—more fervently, with greater faith—because we recognise that true, radical transformation for the children we serve begins on our knees, in prayer.
