What do we love?
Greece has a lot to love - for starters, the history is rich—the ancient ruins, like the Acropolis in Athens, bring the stories of mythology and philosophy to life. The food is also a huge highlight: fresh seafood, olives, feta, and of course, tzatziki. And the individual charms of each of its islands but united in culture speaks of the types of communities we love to champion.
What are the challenges?
Refugee and Roma children are left marginalised, excluded and without opportunity. They lack access to basic needs and education, yet face discrimination, stigma, and significant meantal health challenges.
What are our partners doing?
CRY are proud to support a centre in Athens that meets the immediate needs of these two vulnerable communities.
The Centre has a store of clothes, food, and medical supplies that can be distributed to the refugees. It provides education for refugee children, spaces for prayer, ministry and emotional support to the children and families that have been displaced.
The centre also provides support for families, running kids’ clubs to provide a safe place for children to play while their parents register for camps, look for employment, or simply have time to address the emotional strain of their situation.
What can you do?
