Doing Good Innovatively - February News
As a charity, we are dedicated to providing practical, impactful, and innovative solutions to help children rise beyond poverty. This month, we are excited to highlight some of these initiatives and share how you can empower children.
1) Buy A Gift That Counts
We are pleased to introduce our NEW charitable gift catalogue — a simple way to give a gift that truly counts. You can now donate towards the purchase of a tangible service or item for a child in need in the world. We invite you to explore all the different gifts by visiting www.cry.org.uk/gifts.
As an option, for birthdays, anniversaries, or any occasions, you can choose a gift certificate to honour someone with a meaningful gift.
Above is an example from our Gift Catalogue: a sewing machine for a girl in Laos, giving her the skills and opportunity to earn an income and break the cycle of poverty.
2) "For I was Hungry and you Fed Me."
Last November, a small CRY delegation made a visit to the Philippines, spending time with its two partner projects feeding vulnerable children — one in underprivileged areas of Manila and the other in rural, typhoon-affected communities near Naga City.

Although the country is rich in culture and resilience, many families face daily hardship and extreme poverty. CRY has been supporting children in some of these areas for over 11 years by providing regular meals.
Here's a blog article where you can read what moved the team most — read their personal reflections from the trip by clicking here.

To run this project in Manila for the year, we have committed to releasing £7,800 to provide nutritious meals for 30 of the most vulnerable children five days a week, along with healthy snacks for more than 70 children every Saturday.
This funding will also help cover essential vitamins (as seen in the video) and, when needed, medical care, as well as other core costs required to ensure the programme runs effectively throughout the year.
To make all of this possible, we rely on the generosity of our network of supporters. 100% of your donation will reach the Philippines* through the options below.
*Please note: If more than £7,800 is raised, any additional funds will be directed to support our feeding programme in the Congo (RDC).
3) The Beyond Legacy
We invite you to help shape futures that rise beyond poverty. On this linked page, you can find out how to leave a gift in your Will. By doing so, you can be assured that your legacy will shine as a lasting beacon of hope for children facing some of the most desperate circumstances on earth — long after your lifetime.
Leaving a gift to CRY in our will allows us to turn the support we give in our lifetime into a lasting legacy of hope. It makes us feel good to know that even after we’re gone, we can continue to make a difference for vulnerable children through a charity that truly reflects what we stand for. It’s a simple gesture that facilitates care for years to come.

4) Bunco Night | Save the Date
Our brilliant UK partner, Mindcare Training, is hosting with us a fun event to support one of this year’s most exciting projects: our third biennial CRY Education Forum for African leaders.
When? Friday 24th April 2026, 7.30pm
Where? King’s Community Church, SO30 4BZ
What? A fundraising evening of playing Bunco, a fast-paced social dice game. Food will be provided; BYOB. There may even be prizes.
How much? £12 Earlybird rate; £15 for tickets purchased after 24th March.
How? Simply buy your ticket by clicking here.
100% of all proceeds and donations on the night will go directly to funding this year’s CRY Forum in Arusha, Tanzania, this May. Leaders from 14 African nations will come together to share expertise, insights, and ideas on improving education and humanitarian work across the continent and strengthening their local projects.
Below is a case study from our last forum, which took place in Kenya in 2024.
Above, Brother Benjamin from Togo shares his experience and work on the importance of vocational skills training alongside formal education, while Pastor Luc from Burkina Faso listens attentively at our recent forum in Kenya.
Since then, several of the project partners (including Luc!) who attended have introduced similar initiatives in their own countries. This is a snapshot of the continental impact these gatherings can have.
Above, Sister Elyh from Madagascar shares about their vital work with children.
We are grateful to the few organisations already supporting us to run this conference totally free for our partners, but we are still a few thousand pounds short. If you feel inspired, you can attend the Bunco Night event above and make a donation then or make a direct contribution* to the conference by clicking here
*Please note that any surplus raised beyond the conference costs will be fully allocated to the projects in the 14 countries represented, helping us continue our commitment to supporting children’s work on the ground.
Verse of the month:
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
