July Newsletter

WE DID IT | An update about our Summer Appeal.

30/30 children have been sponsored out of the Quarry in Madagascar following the launch of our Summer Appeal.

This is the incredible power of community. When compassionate, like-minded people come together, amazing things happen. Thank you to every single person who gave, shared, or prayed. We’ll now be closing this campaign and will share updates in September on how these children are getting on. If you missed it, read our June newsletter to find out more.

INCREASE | God is calling us to increase our impact by pressing forward in our ongoing pursuit to see as many children rise beyond poverty.

A few months ago, we opened our ninth Charity Shop, a Boutique one, this time in Fareham. These shops are vital to our mission, as they generate essential profit which, combined with your generous financial support, enables us to provide the resources our partners need to support children around the world. Below is Episode One of our case study video series called More Than A Shop - highlighting how shopping, giving, or volunteering in our shops is making a real and lasting difference.

Thanks to your continued generosity and your involvement in our shops, we are also able to expand our impact. Just two months ago, we announced a new partnership with a girls-only children’s home in Sri Lanka, and this month, we are delighted to share news of a new partnership in Mauritania - you can read more about it by clicking on the country name.

Together, we’re reaching more children around the world – including in places that are deeply underserved, or even, in the words of our partners in Mauritania, 'forgotten.' But we are helping changing that story.

PRAY | We want prayer and the word of God to be the heartbeat of all we do.

A few months ago, our good friend Mark Kresge—one of the pastors at Jesus Culture in California—delivered a powerful, on-point, and deeply challenging message during our Charity Dinner, where the vision for CRY’s next decade was shared. Just a few weeks ago, he shared this same message with his home church, Jesus Culture Sacramento. You can listen to it here—we hope it challenges and inspires you as it did us.

Verse of the month:

"When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you. I am the Lord your God."

Leviticus 23:22

As per Mark's above message, Leviticus 23:22 teaches us to intentionally leave room in our resources for others, especially the poor and the outsider. It’s a command to create margin—not to consume everything we have, but to practice generosity as an act of obedience to God.

SHAPE | We believe God is calling us to equip the next generation of leaders to serve both now and in the future — including raising awareness among children in the UK and across the World.

As previously shared, we’ve launched a monthly children’s newsletter and activity pack designed to help grown-ups explore the wider world with the children in their lives. It’s a fun and educational way to learn together about life beyond our borders.

We’ve named the series: Virtual World Tour with Pepi Parrot.

This month, following the success of our recent campaign (a heartfelt thank you to everyone who responded so swiftly!), Pepi is off to Madagascar. Here’s a short teaser video from her visit.

You can sign up to receive the children’s newsletter and activity pack – completely free of charge – by clicking right here.

As always, everything we achieve is made possible by the generosity of our supporters and charity shop customers.
