June Newsletter

This month, we are launching a vital, time-sensitive summer appeal to rescue 30 children from child labour in a quarry and send them to school by September. If you can, please act today by sponsoring one child out of the quarry.
In line with our 10-year vision, below are further updates from June - all related to the three key words shaping CRY’s next decade:

Increase
As part of our commitment to increase our support for children worldwide, we have launched our summer appeal — a time-bound mission to rescue 30 additional children in Madagascar over the coming weeks. During a recent visit, we witnessed a heartbreaking reality we cannot ignore. Children, some as young as five, work long, dangerous hours in a nearby quarry. Instead of attending school, they spend their days breaking rocks under the scorching sun, inhaling dust, and, if fortunate, earning just €0.80 a day — barely enough to buy three cups of rice, often for their only meal.
£130 is all it takes to rescue one of these children. Your donation would give them access to education, along with school uniform(s), nutritious food five times a week, and vital mental health care for one academic year.
The launch of this initiative will allow CRY and Le Triomphe to respond to this urgent need immediately, while giving us time to seek long-term, sustainable funding to continue supporting these children beyond their first year.
You can also donate towards this campaign via your Stewardship account, if you have one.
Pray
20th June marks World Refugee Day. Beyond providing aid, our support is focused on four key areas — you can read more about these here. Among them is our commitment to support refugee children and internally displaced communities across the world.
We care deeply for all people, especially for vulnerable children. It breaks our hearts to know that around 19 million children worldwide have been forced to leave their homes, many of them seeking safety and the hope of a better life. This month, we want to particularly lift them up in prayer, and invite you to join us in the following prayer - by clicking here.

Shape
Our pilot year of the CRY Leadership Academy is drawing to a close, and we are pleased to say that it has been, overall, a great success. Both of our interns have taken part in a wide range of initiatives, including — but not limited to — volunteering in CRY shops, travelling abroad, undertaking leadership and theological training, meeting with partner charities such as Compassion UK, HTB Church, Clear, among others, and engaging directly with most of our partners around the world.
This has given them valuable, first-hand insight into the work that we and our partners are doing globally. You can hear directly from Esther and Beth as they share their reflections in their on-camera interviews (click on their respective names to see these). If you or someone you know is interested in applying for the gap year starting in September 2026, please get in touch as soon as possible by emailing hello@cry.org.uk.
Verse of the month:
“When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.”
— Leviticus 19:33–34
As always, everything we achieve is made possible by the generosity of our network and charity shop customers. If you’re not taking part in our ongoing CRY Summer Appeal, you can still support our work by clicking here.
